Evidence
Sources, and how they are used
This site distinguishes between institutional sources, scholarly registries, third-party reporting and self-reported information. Sources are attached where they materially clarify a role, output or contribution.
Most personal research sites ask to be taken at their word. This one tries not to. Where a claim about a role, an output or a contribution rests on a document, the document is linked next to the claim, usually behind a small control marked with the publisher's name.
Three habits follow from that, and they are worth stating because they occasionally make the site read more modestly than it could. Roles are described with the institution's own words for the period concerned, which is why more than one UNESCO job title appears. Contributions are distinguished from authorship: being named in a writing team or an acknowledgement is recorded as exactly that. And anything that cannot be supported is left off rather than softened, including several claims that appeared on the previous version of this site.
An editorial record of those decisions, including what was checked and rejected, is kept alongside the site's source code.
