Les sources, et leur usage
Ce site distingue les sources institutionnelles, les registres scientifiques, la couverture par des tiers et les informations déclaratives. Les sources sont jointes lorsqu'elles clarifient réellement une fonction, une production ou une contribution.
La plupart des sites de chercheurs demandent qu'on les croie sur parole. Celui-ci essaie de ne pas le faire. Lorsqu'une affirmation portant sur une fonction, une production ou une contribution repose sur un document, ce document est lié à côté de l'affirmation, le plus souvent derrière une commande discrète portant le nom de l'éditeur.
Il en découle trois habitudes, qu'il vaut la peine d'énoncer car elles rendent parfois ce site plus modeste qu'il ne pourrait l'être. Les fonctions sont décrites avec les mots employés par l'institution à la période concernée, d'où la présence de plusieurs intitulés à l'UNESCO. Les contributions sont distinguées de la qualité d'auteur : être nommé dans une équipe de rédaction ou dans des remerciements est consigné comme tel. Et tout ce qui ne peut être étayé est écarté plutôt qu'atténué, y compris plusieurs affirmations qui figuraient sur la version précédente de ce site.
Un journal éditorial de ces décisions, y compris ce qui a été vérifié puis écarté, est conservé avec le code source du site.
